Privacy Policy

This page explains what personal data this site collects, why, on what legal basis, and what rights you have under the GDPR. It's written in plain language, not legal boilerplate — if anything here is unclear, email alex.wks.b@gmail.com and ask.

Who's responsible

Alexander Whitaker Bott owns this site and is the data controller for the information described below, within the meaning of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (the GDPR). He acts as a private individual, not as a registered company. Reach him directly at alex.wks.b@gmail.com.

What this site collects

The only personal data involved is what you choose to type into the contact form: first name, last name, email address, the service you're enquiring about, and anything you write in the details field.

Nothing is collected automatically. There is no analytics, no advertising pixel, and no tracking script anywhere on this site. Even the fonts are served from this site rather than loaded from an external provider, so simply reading this page does not hand your IP address to a third party.

Why — and the legal basis

That information exists for one reason: to read your enquiry and reply to it. It is never used for marketing lists, resold, or shared with anyone beyond what's described below.

The legal basis is Article 6(1)(b) of the GDPR — steps taken at your own request before entering into a contract. You decide whether to make contact; nothing is processed unless you do. Providing the data is not a legal or contractual obligation, but without an email address there is no way to reply to you.

How your message actually reaches me

This site is a static export with no server of its own, and it does not send your message anywhere by itself. When you submit the form, it assembles the text you typed into a WhatsApp link and opens WhatsApp — you are the one who presses send. Until you do, nothing leaves your device.

That means the message is delivered through WhatsApp, operated in Europe by WhatsApp Ireland Limited (part of the Meta group), and is then handled under WhatsApp's own privacy policy and end-to-end encryption. Meta may process some of the associated data outside the European Union, relying on the transfer safeguards described in its policy. If you would rather not use WhatsApp, write to alex.wks.b@gmail.com instead — it reaches the same place.

Cookies and local storage

This site does not use cookies. Two small preferences — your language choice (English/Italian) and light/dark theme — are saved in your browser's local storage so they persist between visits. That's a technical preference set by your own action, not tracking: it never leaves your device and is never used to identify or follow you. Storage of this kind does not require a consent banner, which is why you aren't being shown one.

Hosting

The site is hosted on Vercel, which may log basic technical request data (like IP address and browser type) as standard web-hosting infrastructure — this isn't something the site itself configures or can access.

How long data is kept

Messages sent through the contact form are kept only as long as needed to respond to your enquiry, plus a reasonable period afterward for record-keeping, then deleted. Because messages arrive as ordinary WhatsApp or email conversations, deleting them means deleting that conversation — ask and it will be done.

Your rights under the GDPR

If you're in the EU or the UK, you have the right to access the data you've submitted, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to how it's used, and to receive it in a portable format. Where processing rests on consent, you can withdraw it at any time without affecting what was done beforehand.

To exercise any of these, email alex.wks.b@gmail.com — you'll get an answer within a month. If you're not satisfied with the response, you can lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority; in Italy, that's the Garante per la Protezione dei Dati Personali (garanteprivacy.it).
